Our favorite weekly meeting starts back up tonight.

The Living Room is a college ministry of buckhead church that we lead every Monday night at 8:00pm. We’re meeting now at buckhead church in the attic. If you’re college age and in the atl area come check it out.

Right now though…melton, joe and I are at glow in the dark working on the record. Matt is working on guitars on a song called ‘Go’. It’s shaping up to be one of our favorite songs. Kind of a hip hop feel on the chorus that feels different than anything else we’re doing on the record. Can’t wait for you to hear!

Well…we’re at it again. We’re back at glow in the dark working on the last half of the record. We spent Monday and Tuesday arranging. Wednesday…joe was an animal and finished all the drums. Yesterday and today…melton is working guitars. We’re excited about these last songs.

hi everyone…

merry greetings from sevierville, TN…where it’s Christmas 365 days a year. we’re playing live for the first time since we’ve been out of the studio and it feels GREAT! we’re here leading an event with our good friend Scott Dawson and it’s reminded us of the thrill it is to be a part of the unplanned and supernatural stuff that happens when we follow the Holy Spirit. this event is also the first time that we’ll be playing new songs. it’s been good for us to play these songs live and learn how they work in a set. we’re having a blast!

did everyone have a great christmas? let me just say…christmas with a 2 year old in the house is so much fun. this was isaac’s first year to be obsessed with presents. he caught on pretty quick to the fact that behind the pretty paper were treasures beyond his wildest 2 year old dreams. and because he has grandparents who love to spoil him…he got lots of treasure. kerri and i were talking after christmas had wound down…we feel like our childhood has finally ended. we’re now living vicariously through isaac who is now having the experiences we had as kids. i received some very generous gifts this year, but my greatest joy was watching isaac open his presents and look at me with with this look that says, “OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!” amazing…

a new musical development…i’m just discovering Queen. freddie mercury…are you serious. this guy has got to be the greatest frontman in the history of rock and roll. i know what some of you are thinking…i’m like 25 years to late. well…i grew up on a steady diet of amy grant, steven curtis chapman and dc talk…what do you expect. anyway, they’re amazing. what really hooked me was they’re performance at live aid in 1985…electrifying.

on that same note…have you guys heard the new killers record? our whole band is seriously diggin it. you should go check it out.

hey everyone!

sorry i disappeared for a while. we’ve been putting the final touches on these first six songs. we spent this week working on mixes and today around 3pm i received the final mixes. they sound great! reid shippen did a fantastic job bringing these songs to life and making these mixes sound like us. i’ll say it again…we can’t wait to share with everyone.

i’ll have some exciting news to share soon…stay tuned.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ISAAC!!

i love making my son happy. in that sense…today was a great day. we spent the day making a HUGE deal of isaac’s 2nd birthday. his actual birthday is tomorrow, but today was the celebration. we started the day off with a train set that took my father in law and i 4 hours to put together (see figure 1 and 2). a few hours later our families showed up with loads of presents (see figure 3). then we ate cake (see figure 4 and 5). it was a huge success!

what is it about making your kids happy? every time i see isaac light up i want to start crying with joy. i imagine that i’m feeling a tinge of what God must feel when He blesses us…His children. i love my son and there are days that i give him what he wants because it is best. there are also days that i give him what is best and not what he wants. today i just plain spoiled him because i’m super double excited he’s alive…

The last days

For the past two weeks we’ve been pouring ourselves into these six songs and we can finally see the finish line. We should be wrapping up tracking soon and we can’t wait for you guys to hear. The goal is to get these six songs finished and then come back the beginning of 09 and do the next six. the songs we’ve tracked so far…

Right now I’m In the control room listening to matt record guitar on the chorus of Kingdom. All I can think about is how much i want to have a dance party.
